NAHB Proudly Serves as a Premier Partner for OSHA’s Annual National 安全 St和-Down

OSHA is partnering with employers 和 贸易协会 on its National 安全 St和-Down for fall prevention in construction, which will take place May 6-10, 2024. The safety st和-down is designed to raise awareness about the hazards of falls, which are responsible for the highest number of deaths 在 construction industry, contributing to 395 of the 1,069 construction fatalities in 2022. Fall protection is also the most frequently cited OSHA violation each year.

What is a 安全 St和-Down?

A safety st和-down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about fall hazards 和 to reinforce the importance of fall protection.

Anyone who wants to prevent hazards 在 workplace can participate 在 st和-down. 在过去的几年里, participants included both small 和 large construction companies, residential construction contractors, sub- 和 independent contractors, 贸易协会, 和 safety equipment manufacturers.

Three Steps to Hold Your Own St和-Down:

  1. 提前计划. Always schedule the st和-down ahead of time to maximize worker turnout. Jobsites follow strict schedules with tight deadlines, so it is important to schedule at a time convenient for all workers. 提示: Provide lunch as an incentive for participation.

NAHB Fall Prevention in Residential Construction Training Course:Job-Site 安全 Institute, NAHB has developed a free four-hour online course for builders, 贸易承包商, 主管和工人. This course will provide the user with information on the correct procedures 和 equipment usage, as well as give examples of incorrect applications of fall protection. This training program provides student attendees an underst和ing of the OSHA fall protection regulations 和 safe work practices to prevent fall-related injuries 和 deaths. FSL4RES Training Program: The Healthy Work Center at Washington University in St. Louis has created the Foundations for 安全 Leadership for Residential Construction (FSL4Res), 一个新的, freely available training program designed to teach safety leadership skills to foremen 和 other lead workers in residential construction. 这个项目, which is based on the original Foundations for 安全 Leadership program, emphasizes fall prevention depicts different safety scenarios 和 requires learners to decide which of the leadership skills can be used to prevent falls 和 address other worksite hazards.
